Is she gone? Have we seen the last of our sexy red headed siren? Does that mean no more Dr. Greg too?
I'm so bummed... |

I don't see them 86'ing Joan from the show. Her departure must have something to do with a future story arc. Perhaps she gets hired by Duck as part of his plundering of SC?
In the 60's, a doctor was about the biggest "catch" a gal could get (at least according to the soaps I remember from then.) I don't see her dumping him, so much as trying to build him into what she wants him to be. She is a manager, after all. I also think she is loathe to admit a mistake, as she didn't ask for her job back, nor dump the jerk after his date rape. This may turn out to be an achilles heel for her. |

I think in the very last scene in the skink previews from last night it shows Joan’s husband face down lying in their apartment. He may dump himself.
I’ll bet Peggy was really looking forward to her heart to heart with Joan offering her thanks when the John Deer came by. |

Joan's exit serves no dramatic purpose that I can see. There are many aspects of her character to explore. Her leaving at this point and in this manner is a little too abrupt.
"Uncle Herman" poaching her is one possibility - I can't remember if he was around when Harry bumped Joan out of the TV gig she had been handling. It wouldn't make sense if she was just an "office girl" though. I just can't believe we've seen the last of her yet... |

Joan, imo, is crucial to the ensemble. She's the "constant".... the one who knows everything. Plus, she's the only one with a rockin' 1960s bod. She looks better in her costumes than anyone else. We need Joan.

I hope you are right and think you might very well be. Joan's husband is a douche anyway. And then maybe Joan and Jane can cat fight over Roger all over place...I wouldn't bat an eyelash at that. |

Boy do I have to eat cravat for blowing all my predictions.
Based on the sparse décor I thought that it was Joan’s apartment for the drunk on the floor. And I gave a big know-it-all post on how Don couldn’t start his own firm because he would have already had a contract with a non-compete when the Brits bought SC. Why wouldn’t they have asked for one with the sale? He got $500K and is the company’s best asset and they saw him walk once before with the Duck show down. Great to see old man Cooper flash a bit of his hardball wickedness that must have brought him so much success before Don came along. Nothing like a little blackmail between ‘friends.’ And why shouldn’t he, Don is being a dick and unreasonable to his employer. I don’t blame Duck for putting the moves on Peggy, yeah he’s older and kind of gross because he’s so smarmy but I couldn’t resist Peggy and would have propositioned her. She smart, attractive and seem to enjoy as Duck put it a “go around.” ick. I liked the part when Betty hung up the phone in the study and to validate her possibly doing something inappropriate with the Governor’s advisor, she pulls on Don’s locked desk drawer of secrets as a reminder of ‘what’s good for the goose ..” |

I think you're right, mneely, Joan's pride may be her weakness. Still she has the skills to deserve that pride and your guys' predictions about her being picked up by Duck seem just as likely. I would hate this to have been the end of her character arc, I love her!

after DD's secretary ran over the brit's foot; i'm su-prised she was in the last episode.
i thought joan would replace her and resume being DD's secretary. i suspect the brit's will find her a job in appreciation for her first aid work? |

Spot on James! There's nothing like blowing all your own predictions.
I knew having a John Deere in the office would come to no good. The bloodbath really shocked me, but was also funny in a way. I had to remember that Weiner came from the 'Sopranos' background. I thought the British golden boy would be around longer, but no one can work without a foot! I wouldn't mind seeing Sinjin around the office more. I do think Duck is smarmy & wonder why he's bouncing around all the agencies. At least he's not drinking a lot! I think it's good for Peggy to experience this, but know that Duck still wants something from her. I was glad to see Joan take control of her relationship with her husband before their dinner party. Sorry she married a loser! But there are other ways to practice medicine other than surgery. Too bad Joan can't stop work & focus on starting a family. I'm loving this season. It's hit a groove that still surprises. |

Well now we know where she ended up. Managing the women's section at a department store. Sad. I just hope Joan Sterling doesn't shop there.
I wonder how they'll reincorporate her into SC. |

I'm guessing this isn't the end of her character arc simply by the effort to include this scene in the teleplay. Everything about Joan in this episode was sympathetic and pathetic at the same time - even down to her heavier-than-usual makeup. I'm glad they didn't write her out.
