America was awash in Euphoria from the day the war ended. Society was about keeping things loose and not letting anything get too heavy; any problems were to be swept under the carpet. We have always heard that the Kennedy assassination was a watershed moment where this period of innocence abruptly ended. I think the writers on the show are doing a magnificent job in showing how the those eras of innocence are ending for all the characters too. Obviously, Don's stark and vivid confession is at the forefront, but it's happening with other characters. Certain truths were revealed about Roger, and he seems to be starting to face those truths head-on. We also get a whiff of what lies ahead with Greg joining the army and making a casual reference to a far-away conflict in Vietnam. All of these sub-plots seems to be coming together just before America is forever jolted by events in Dallas. The Leave it to Beaver era has got maybe another week or two left before it ends forever.
