Almost 20 years today, The Berlin Wall came down symbolizing the reunification of two entities that never should have been separated to begin with. One of the many things that made last night's episode so satisfying was to see the reunification of two swinging cats who together added a great dimension to the storyline. In many ways Don and Roger were soul brothers, who were estranged as a result of a number of artificial barriers. To see them together talking dispassionately about life in a dimly-lit smokey bar over double scotches, and dusting themselves off the next morning to take on the world was magic. To paraphrase a great President: "Mr. Weiner, tear down this wall!" Happy days are here again folks.

I totally agree! The chemistry of the core remaining characters-especially Don & Roger-is great. Love the addition of Price too. A great finale.

When Roger heard that Betty and Henry were an item, I think he probably took some schadenfreude from it. But when he found out that Don was being kicked in the gut from the divorce and didn't know why, I believe he genuinely felt sorry for him. Putting past differences aside, he felt sympathy for the man being cuckolded. Us vs. them. It's a guy thing.

I think there's some kind of unification of Don Draper and Dick Whitman also.
Now Betty, Bertram and Pete know for sure Dick's true identity. And probably Roger, Peggy and Joan should know by now or will find out soon enough. The phonecall to Betty where he sais he won't interfere in her new life was pretty significant. |
