for instance, didn't The Beatles arrive in the US in 1964? Doing a quick scan of Wikipedia, I found a few more. The first Ford Mustang rolls of assembly line, The Rolling Stones release their first album, the Civil Rights Act is signed by LBJ, and thats just up to July. Anyway, The Beatles have to get at least a mention.

February 1964 - an opening montage along the lines of the one done for season two, showing how all the characters react (or didn't) to the Beatles on Ed Sullivan would be kinda neat. Everyone is followed, the camera gets to Don last and..........
...... he is not watching it because he's working. Or schmoozing. Or philandering. Or just because he's still a radio guy at heart ... could cut from the Beatles on Ed Sullivan performing "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to the same song blaring out of the radio on Don's car as he reaches to turn it off. Suzanne is in the car and stops him. A nascent generation gap. |

jkerouac59, you certainly have a bead on Don Draper. I like your last idea with Suzanne best.

According to the new TV-Guide, Sal is toast. Bryan Batt said he never got his "call back" to return to work on season 4, and MW confirmed that now that Sal was forced out of the closet, SCD&P would not be hiring him back.
I find that a real shame, as Sal's dilema was one of the more interesting storylines, IMO, and an odd double-standard as they (still?) had an openly gay employee in Kurt. |

Agreed. That is too bad. I wonder what that bodes for Ken and Paul?

I find that a real shame, as Sal's dilema was one of the more interesting storylines, IMO, and an odd double-standard as they (still?) had an openly gay employee in Kurt. Sal being closeted and Kurt being open is hugely different. Sal has a wife, and there's lots of backstory there. You also having it being a huge conflict for Sal that doesn't exist for Kurt. Sal should be back in some way. It's odd. They have come back to people who left, like Joannie and Duck, but refuse to come back to a compelling storyline. Even a storyline like Rachel Menkin's was advanced, if only by a chance encounter. I'd like to see something of Sal. But it does make sense, that he can't be hired by the firm because of the Lucky Strikes thing, and they have never gone back to Rumsen, who also left in "disgrace." Hopefully we will be riveted, no matter what. We usually are. http://crackbillionair.wo ... |
