Pete’s adoption process will go forward. Peggy’s sister will get fed up with raising her son and let Father Gil put it up for adoption. Somehow Pete will come close to adopting his own son but because he’s a general overall ass, he will just berely pass his son over for another child or pull the plug on the adoption process all together. A tragic twist sort of, I’m hoping for an end to the Campbell bloodline.
I wish I had Pete’s unwavering confidence in myself. Shame and an ounce of modesty are holding me back. |

Haha! Great line about stopping the Campbell bloodline. It is very possible he sees his son and questions some features; however, do not forget Father Gil is continually prodding at Peggy. She's continues to climb the corporate ladder faster than woman or man in the early 60's. Will her new confidence along with Father Gil's persistence make Peggy want her child back?
This is a long shot, don't think it will happen, but maybe Pete leaves his wife for Peggy? |

Peggy's baby was born November 1960 and is almost 2 years old. Trudy Campbell wants to adopt an infant. The story needs to take a strange twist for Pete & Trudy to adopt a toddler who just happens to be Pete's biological child.
The strange twist: Pete realizes Peggy had his baby. He's in as much denial after-the-fact as Peggy was before the fact. I think he suspects even though he wants to believe Peggy was at "a fat farm" during the time she went missing. The other guys think Draper knocked her up. Pete knows better! sex is "risky business" to quote newlywed Trudy Campbell as she prepares to climb out of bed and put in her diaphram in an early episode of season 1 (don't remember which). The story of Pete and Peggy's baby isn't over but I don't want to see Pete and Peggy together again. |

Actually, it's not that far-fetched. I can see Peggy having a sit-down with Pete, and Pete seeing the opportunity to soothe some feathers with Clearasil and at home by deciding to adopt his and Peggy's baby.

humm, Peter. That's an interesting take.
At this point I can't see Peggy discussing the baby with anyone. She's followed Don's advice: "this never happened." Of course Fr. Gill will be back in Epi 13 to confront her about making confession and we don't know what may come of that. Maybe she'll follow the priest's advice, confess and tell Pete. It's possible. Where do you think the child is now? Matt W has kept us in the dark all thru Season 2. Is the little boy in Anita's home Peggy's child or Anita's child? Anita was pregnant also. Maybe we'll get the answer Sunday. I think so, at least I hope so. I'm curious how Pete would explain the child to Trudy and how accepting Trudy would be of raising Pete's love child. I'd think Trudy would be devastated to know Pete was stepping out on the eve of his marriage to her. Yeah, I guess he would weasel out of it saying, "but we weren't married yet so I wasn't cheating on you, blah blah blah, just taking advantage of a final opportunity and blah blah blah." A whole lot more than baked chicken will be flying out the windows of the Campbell home if Trudy finds out. |

I don't see Pete confessing anything to Trudy. Rather I think he will tell her he has magnanimously decided to agree to adopt, and coincidentally, has a certain child in mind. That way he can be the hero to her and her folks, and still hide the sliminess inside.

That would be in character for him. I was puzzling over his name the other night - he's certainly not named for Peter, the rock. mneeley brought it home though - he's "Sneaky Pete"!

I think that Pete and Peggy represent a massive cultural shift from the WWII generation that spawned "Don" and his ilk. Peggy and Pete wrestle with the terrifying uncertainty of a shifting society where the rules and inhibitors of the past are falling through the cracks.
Their baby is the innocent casualty of the modern age, something there, real, breathing but like a ghost will haunt each of them at the worst moments. Peggy will become an alcoholic or sedative user and Pete will wind up alone in a neon signed hotel on the west side, feelinf sorry for himself and wondering how it all went so far wrong. |

With a attitude like his, "Why can't I get anything good all at once?," he will never be happy with his life.
