Is it just me, or does Mad Men seem a lot funnier this season?
Obviously, there are plenty of instances of subtle humour, but I have found myself laughing out loud at the past few episodes in these early days of Season 4. Roger has always been good for a laugh with his one-liner's, but otherwise, the humour seems quite "wet" in comparison to the dry, quiet humour of previous seasons. Just putting it out there for comment. |

I dunno. I thought that wunderkind getting his foot mowed off in season 3 was pretty funny.

@ Drapery. I tend to agree, certainly the men's night out with Don and Lane.

@ mneeley490:
You are absolutely right about the lawnmower episode. There were some outrageously hilarious lines and visuals in that one. However, I kind of feel like that was an exception, whereas this season I am coming to expect a few laughs. |

I agree that this season the writing does seem sharper. I think a lot of the newly injected humor comes from Don's new secretary, Miss Blakenship (sp?). Did you hear this week what she said about if she wanted to see two negroes fighting she'd throw a dollar out the window! I was like WHOAH! But it was funny.

Yes, sharp and funny this season, although the secretary is jarring, I think. She sounds like a standup comic, like a guy in drag making Henny Youngman jokes. Over, over, WAY over the top.
Favorite line last night: DD says he wouldn't be good company if he were to come along with Roger. Roger replies, "that never stopped me before" or something like that. HAR. |
