I can’t take credit for this prediction, as my wife came up with it, but Don will marry his secretary.
First the physiatrist said that Don will be married within a year. We’ve seen in the past that the company MM physiatrists are ahead of the curve and right about human nature. Remember the physiatrist in the pilot that Don poo pooed. She was right on the mark as she could be about smoking and seeking danger. The Secretary also stood up to Don and believe it or not that’s what he wants and needs. Finally me and the Mrs re-watched the conversation with DD and the blond physiatrists. The argument over Ponds cold cream and what women want was really the conversation about Don and the Secretary. “A veiled promise of matrimony.” DD – “you poke around inside women’s heads and get them to say all sorts of things” “Let’s do it my way for a year and do another focus group and see what they say.” Don wants to “do it his way” but it conflicts with what he really wants. I think she looks rather dowdy right now but with a little bit of work on her clothing, hair and make up the secretary could become a “Sexatary” rivaling the current receptionist or even Joan. She could be arm candy and a good mother. |

Speaking of the German pyschiatrist from the first episode, it made me recall a great line spoken by Sal:
"You mean a person can act one way and be thinking the exact opposite?! That's ridiculous."

@ James: While I agree that Allison could definitely be de-frumped, I don't see her and Don together, not in a million years! Allison thinks Don is a drunk, a philanderer, and not a good person! Even if Don was interested in her, which I don't think he is, he'd have a hard time convincing her now that he's a good catch. Not to mention that she probably also thinks he's a lousy lay!
I think his conversation with Dr. Miller arose because he was annoyed that it exposed him as a cad. He said at the end, regarding the poking around in the girl's brains that "It's nobody's business!" Which of course means that he's angry that he can't pretend "this never happened" anymore, when it comes to Allison. And he was right on the money when he said "You can't tell how people are going to behave based on how they have behaved". That line could be applied to every character in the show, if you think about it. So, I guess, actuallly, that you/your wife could be right about Don and Allison. Huh.

don & betz will reconcile after henry's mom makes him dump her.
these two people (don & betz) are the type of married couple that will fight and scrap and pull apart and reconcile until they both die of old age...together. she will always be looking for "something better" and don beleives, in his "heart of hearts" that betz is what he deserves. |

@ rnch: you could have something there. The "Did you get the pears?" scene between the old couple may have reminded Don of his relationship with Betty and that such a relationship can endure.
There is a preview photo of what could be a confrontation between Henry and Betty. |

"You mean a person can act one way and be thinking the exact opposite?! That's ridiculous." I saw the best T-shirt ever for sale in Venice Beach. In a large bold font it read “People who lead double lives have twice the fun.” NOw that’s a fresh outlook – I came close to buying it but where could I wear it? “you’re not serious with that shirt are you?” “Ahh no its just a joke.” That fashion statement would just lead to trouble. |

I don't think the two of them getting together would be much of a stretch. Don's keen on keeping up appearances, and Allison only called him a drunk who's "not a good person" after she was used and ignored. The day after they knocked boots in Don's apartment, she felt pretty good about herself. She was smirking at him from her desk, and when he invited her into his office, she clearly thought that she was entering his circle of trust. That's why it came as such a shock to her when he made it clear that what happened between them was a one-time thing only.
Allison thought she had hit the jackpot when she received Don's affection. If he were to turn on the charm once more and offer to take her out for Chicken Kiev, she'd be powerless to resist him. |

Are you talking Don and Allison? I think that boat never sailed. It sunk in the harbor.
Don and the doc? (Joyce Brothers wanna-be?) A hook up only, maybe. And it would have to be angry sex, like he had with Bobbie Barret. She's way too prying for Don's taste. The first thing she wanted to know from Don (and the rest) was how they felt about their fathers. The "Sin of Pride" excuse wouldn't work on her like it did on naive Betty. Don and Betty? As distasteful as I find it, I think the writers will look for a way to get them back together. The only way I see it happening is if: 1) Henry dies sudddenly and leaves her penniless, or 2) Henry comes to his senses and kicks her to the curb. She'd have nowhere else to go, no financial support, and would have to swallow her pride to come back "for the sake of the children". But as all married men know, women may forgive, but they never forget. If he does take her back, she'll quietly make his life hell. |

Faye reminds me of a more smarter, "with the times" Betty. Even some of her hairstyles remind me of Betty in earler seasons. Maybe her wedding ring is a farce and her and Don eventually start something? They could at least hold an intelligent conversation.
I'm also starting to wonder why he hasn't looked up Suzanne. I myself never liked the character, but she seemed like his first "girlfriend" he had a connection with. (Besides Rachael Menken, who I LOVED, but doubt she will be back) |

Nice work with the ESP on the fake wedding ring! I see a few hints now... mostly how they drew attention to the ring itself when she handed it to Peggy for safekeeping during the Ponds Panel.

AHA!! So it IS a fake wedding ring! Well done, DrGirlfriend!
Hmm, Don did seem to open up to her rather quickly (for him) when it was revealed that she was, in fact, a single gal. This is quite a pattern with him (Rachael Menkin, Suzanne, the boho chick from season 1)...it seems that whenever he is stressed about something he finds a mistress to run (away) to. Btw, DrGirlfriend, I loved Ms. Menkin as well, but I believe she is now married so I doubt we'll see her again. Too bad, she seemed like a smart cookie.
I wonder if Dr. Fay(e) will be Don's next free therapist. I wonder why he couldn't open up to Betty in that way? Was it because he was just playing house with her? Trying to live the life everyone was supposed to live, at that time? Thoughts, anyone? |

About that Ponds Panel she lead: She went to the trouble of changing her outfit and removing her ring all to sit down in front of some girls who would have obviously seen her around the office before. I thought that was odd.

@ White Bread:
Yeah, I thought that was strange, too. Are we missing something? |

That struck me as interesting, too. I think she's a consultant, not a full-time staff member. She mentioned in last night's episode that she was trying to get a client when Don interrupted her for yet another rejection.
Also she made a big deal about wanting an incorrectly-spelled nametag to make herself seem unimportant, like she was one of the office girls. They must have been unfamiliar with her or why would she need a nametag at all? |

I really feel like Don is kind of waiting to get back together with Betty. I think Don feels actracted to smart, independed women, but doesn't really see them as marriage-material. They don't seem to be that interested in him anymore either so he's sleeping around with ehm party girls and other girls he doesn't feel a real connection with.
Henry is getting more creepy every episode and i reckon the advice he gave Betty to put Sally into therapy is going to backfire. Especially since the psychiatrist seems to be interested in Betty's well being as well. I wouldn't be suprised when Betty starts to warm up to the idea of reconciling with Don over the season. |

I believe Don loved Betty, and from this, you can conclude that he’s as much as capable of loving anyone. In addition, for me I take; love as a verb, while infatuation as an adjective.
