Did anyone else think the girl Don was hooking up with after the awards party looked like Rachel Menken? I know Don was in a drunken stupor, so perhaps he was seeing what he wanted to see?

No, I think Don encountered a shape-shifting creature of some kind.

The girl who asked about him at the bar maybe did a little, but the next day he woke up next to another girl with blond hair i thought, a girl with quite a peculiar face, i thought.

I think the idea behind Doris the waitress is that she's far beneath Don's standards. Secretaries had a higher social status, I think, and his usual choices tend to be prettier than Doris.
Plus she called him "Dick", possibly an indicator that he was either returning to his origins or in such a stupor that he forgot to be Don for the evening. |

Don went home Friday night with the brunette ad gal, and woke up Sunday morning with the blonde waitress. So there was a whole day unaccounted for in his alcoholic blackout. Evidently, he went to some diner to soak up the alcohol with "three orders of fries" and ended up charming Doris back to his apt. Let's hope he doesn't need any penicillin shots.
Bad luck for him that he put another bullet in Betty's gun by not being there to pick up the kids Sunday morning, causing she and Henry to miss their "very important brunch." |

Yes, alcoholic blackout. Definitely. It took me a minute, going--"wait a minute, I thought she had black hair." Not remembering an entire day? Wow. That's a pretty serious problem.

What I realized differently is the fashion implication For instance Dr. Faye wore a necklace made of seed beads.

I did, and picked up on that instantly. Could have been Rachel's 5 year older, or younger, sister. M |

Possible, perhaps probable given the breadth and depth of that binge. Perhaps, he just blurted that out, off the top of his head, thinking it inocuous. Did you notice the mention of the Rachel looka alike from the previous night being explained to the next in line, as his sister,,. M |

"Yes, alcoholic blackout."
I don't know how Jon Hamm does it, but you'll notice in the overhead shot, over the bed, his actual face changes with the saturated degree of intoxication. Anyone who's ever had to deal with someone in that state, will know what I'm talking about. Maybe they used mustle relaxants, or sedatives, or maybe Jon stayed up for 36 hours straight, to get that effect ? Anyway, it' ain't the best TV show ever made, for nuthin'. It's attention to details like that, that blows me away. M |
