In S4 E7 The Suitcase (FAB episode BTW), did anyone else notice the few lines Harry had? I believe one of them was somewhere along the lines of: "Make sure Jennifer thinks I bought these (fight tickets)" and another line involving "Jennifer". At first I thought, "Oh, Mr. California has something on the side!" but (after googling), I realized that Jennifer is Harry's wife's name. We know little of Harry. Yea, he had an affair early on and then had a baby and became the head of the TV department. And someone on another Mad Men Discussion place(Basket of Kisses? Tom and Lorenzo?) put it perfectly: Harry represents the "Beta Male" of the 1960s. Besides being one of those "comforting, main stays" of Mad Men, does anyone thing he may have a storyline coming along where he isn't just a background character anymore? (excuse my ramblings, please)

Interesting question, DrGirlfriend. I feel the same way about Joey--he seems like one of those "Beta male" types as well. However, both Joey and Harry seem somehow both old-fashioned and modern at the same time, to me. I don't know that Harry is entirely "Beta", however. I mean, he did come up with the idea of a television department for Sterling Cooper when no one else did, which seems kind of "Alpha" or forward-thinking, at least.
Mr. Cooper seems to have a bit of a soft spot for Harry, so maybe that will come into play in the future. |

Harry is a hog. It's as if he morphed into Paul Kinsey. It’s unfortunate because he was often the good guy. And I have to say that Rich Somer looks superb! He has truly slimmed and looks rare.
