I don't know if a similar topic has been posted elsewhere so please forgive me if it has.
But I was curious if any of you have noticed Peggy slowly turning into the smooth creative genius that Don is? I noticed it earlier on this season, and I realize that Don is mentoring her as well. He trusts her more, and pushes her harder than the others because he realizes she has the talent. But it really became evident in the scene with the Popsicle pitch. Her delivery, mannerisms(sp?) and her the cadence of her voice sounded to me just like some of Don's from season one. |

BTW jkerouac59, sorry about the user name. I honestly didn't see yours until after I had registered. Maybe I should change mine to Neil Cassidy. :-0

No need to make any changes on my account.
Seeing as how you're pre-disposed to things beat, way, way off topic BUT beat and '60's related - did you happen to see there is a film version of Tom Wolfe's "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" in the works? Directed by no less than Gus Van Sant! |

No I didn't, thats cool. While I was milling around the house sunday waiting for MadMen to come, my wife was watching Desperate Housewife's and I overheard them make some reference to the book during the episode.
I work as programmer doing contract work for another company. When the corporate guys come around to flex their overlord muscles on the minions a couple of friend and I make reference to "Black Shiny FBI Shoes". |

this thread is going to go further off topic before it maybe gets back to the start:
Jkerouc--thanks for the heads up on an 'Acid Test' movie in the works. I heard it here first and am smiling! Now I'm absolutely curious about the casting and who will play Ken Kesey. Tom Wolfe is one of my favs. Did anyone get vibes of Kandy Kolored Tangerine Flake Streamed Lined Baby during the Epi 12 hot rod scene. (Wolfe also took that storyline to North Carolina NASCAR country and the great Junior Johnson way before Nascar came into the mainstream)gotta love TW. Anyway, Don's interest in the West Coast hot rodders showed once again he's a curious person, open to new influences/ideas. That's what makes him successful. Peggy's a female Don in many ways. She doesn't accept life as it is. She's all about moving out of the limited aspirations of her Catholic Brooklyn family. She's the one putting on the "new concept" pantyhose in opening scene of "Maidenform" when Joan and Betty are doning the established, traditional female undergarments. Peggy's curious about Bob Dylan (good thing--it got her a haircut). And she listens to her mentor, Don, when he tells her a successful ad campaign is about "you feeling something." So yeah, Kerouac_fan, I agree that Peggy echoes Don in her work, I wouldn't say she's transforming into Don but he's definitely a major influence and she's copying his style while she's learning. And thanks for starting this thread. |
