I think Pete has been a bit hasty with the father in law regarding the announcement of his pending fatherhood - I think I see a miscarriage on the horizon otherwise how can Peggy have that extra something in his attraction for her

I would argue exactly the opposite. Pete has proven more than willing and able to step up to a challenge, sometimes maybe a little TOO willing. He knows what he wants, and works with whatever he has to get it. Sounds like the perfect person to be working at SCDP. People don't see Pete coming, he's a surprise.

@Max - I agree with you on that...why be so jealous of Ken Cosgrove when there are so many other people that he could have a healthy competition with?
Remember , this is the same Peter who said to Don in season 1 that 'there is always room for more at the top'. |

Well, Pete is in direct competition with Ken--back at SC, remember, they "shared" a title. Also, one of the reason's Pete may be jealous of Ken is because of Ken's "creative success" as a writer. Pete is a frustrated creative, as has been demonstrated a few times through the series, and in fact in one episode he wrote his own short story and tried to have it published after Ken's was published in The Atlantic (Atlantic Monthly?). Initially, he thought he might be working in creative, but when hired they put him on accounts because he was "good with people" (a comment that Pete said surprised him!)
Peter used to be one of my least favourite characters (weasely is a great word for him, Max!) but he is growing on me more and more, for the reasons all have posted above me. He's interesting, and as poster Peter mentioned, Quote:
People don't see Pete coming, he's a surprise. |

Max and Drapery are right on point. Pete is a weasel. I hope DD paying his part in the maintaining payroll will suffice and that has established a loyalty of sorts to Don.
I will only start liking Pete when he gets together with Peggy
