Trust me... as the doc said
"he only likes beginings" Season 5 will start, and we will not see or hear of megan until somebody drops a line about him dumping her late on in the episode.. in a blaise kind of way. similar to the way they dealt with duck at the end of season 2. |

Dons engagement to Meghan is classic rebounding. Perhaps she is necessary if only so Don can have someone to cheat on.

Season 1...
Duck (on Peggy): Who the hell is she? Season 4... Roger (on Meagan): Who the hell is that? I think Meagan will be someone who'll be around for a while. |

I'm fervently hoping that season 5 will open with Meghen and Don in a classy restaurant. Don takes a big swig from his drink, clasps Meghens hands, and says,
"I'm sorry. There's no easy way to tell you this..." |

And hoping Meghen would reply, "Thanks Don, remember that ugly scene when your last secretary cried, trashed your office and ran out? I'm gonna make you forget about that!"

In my opinion, Don will not be married when the season begins. I think one of the last scenes in the last episode of Season 4 tells us all we need to know - when Don was in the kitchen with Betty and she seemed to be coming on to him, we were all thinking the same thing, which is "If she makes a move on Don, he'll definitely do her right now" and this was a day or two after he become engaged. That is who Don Draper is, and he will not change for Meghan.

Speaking from a woman's point of view if that is "coming on to Don" she sure is half hearted. She can do better than that - think back to the bar episode - she knew what she wanted and went for it.

Maybe "coming on to Don" was a bad choice of words, but there was a sentiment that if either one of them made a move, the other would not have stopped.

@donnydrapes
I think most people in the Lounge would agree with you - but I did not feel that at all - there was no passion in that marriage only perfuncttory actions even their lovemaking, except for the making of little Gene. I only saw a kind of awkardness due to the realisation that after 10 or 11 years - "this is it" |

If I put myself in the position of a boring homelife and chose that as the catapulting scenario for an initiation into an extramarital affair - I would imagine that affair would be grand enough to fill the void - but I sense in the case of Don's seeking woman after woman - that this is a sympton of a much deeper longing. There is no perfect woman/man, most of us realise this, "perfect is imaginary" - it is not that simple - unfortunately.

Don wont marry Megan -
"He told me he loved me Sweetie They say that........ and then they come." Of course this goes without saying none of the above would apply to our Mad Men on Lounge!! Parenthood - Steve Martin |

On second thoughts Christopher and wife Dana - nope she didnt die of a broken heart - she had only one child from her union with Christopher, a son, and I think it would be highly unlikely she would neglect her child emotionally and ultimately physically to die from a broken heart, afterall she had many years to become accustomed to the knowledge that she would lose Christopher some day soon, so it wasnt a shock, the whole family were preparing for that day and her protective mechanisms would be in top gear for the remaining part (their son) of her dearly departed. More likely her immune system was shot due to the pressures of his illness. Well thats my thoughts, everyone on this lounge would have their own separate thoughts.

that article was extremely interesting - and from that I have to conclude we are both right -
Jacqueline Taylor died AFTER the death of her only child - and probably I would agree of a broken heart |

I approve that perhaps Megan would be ideal for Don. Now the questions remains, will he be so great for Megan.

She is so forgettable.....................Next. It was definately a spontaneous proposal. She isn't interesting enough to hold Don's attention for long. Fortunately. |
