Hi and welcome! I am the creator of the Man Men lounge and you can find all my post as user "Don".
I wanted to create a more easy to read discussion board for Mad Men fans as I found that many were poorly ran or hard to read. My goal is to hopefully make this forum a main source to Mad Men discussion. In order to achieve such recognition I realize the importance for user input. If you have any suggestions about anything related to forum sections, features, or even color schemes, please post them in this forum. Regards, - Don |

There should be a music section since it is an integral part of the show!
Anyway, Roger and Don are sitting in a bar after putting Freddie in a cab and are sitting at a bar. There is muffeld music playing in the backround and I have to find out what it is. Can you help me? |

Hello everyone. I have been watching Mad Men since the beginning, when season 2 started I began reading the blog sites to see if I could glean some information from others that I might have missed. After digging thru several other sites I deceided to join here because it seems the members here actually understand the story lines.
I honestly can't figure out why some people watch the show... Thanks to the admins for hosting this site. |

Don-
Great site – thanks for hosting it, so happy I found it. It’s full of very pleasant and thoughtful people who make it a joy to read. My only complaint is that I would like exactly twice as many people to post – don’t know how to manage to limit that to my exact specifications. A few more voices would be nice. The blogging at AMC is a mess because there are just too many people and the postings look frantic. I typed in a search for “Mad Med blogs” and nothing came up for the lounge (3 pages deep) in Yahoo or Google. If there is someone here who has advice on how to maximize your site's position in search engines please share with Don. |

I found this site on a search engine and it was ranked high on the front page. I searched "MadMen message boards" I think. Or maybe "MadMen discussion boards". So it's actually doing fine on search engines for what it is. This wouldn't show up as a blog because it's not a blog.
I understand what you mean about more people finding the place, but I also say be careful what you ask for. There are clearly a number of lurkers here and I think if we just continue the way we're going, they'll eventually feel more comfortable posting. I lurked here for a bit before I just couldn't hold my excitement in any longer. :) I'm happy with the way things are. I've had extremely unpleasant experiences on message boards in the past and this has been perhaps the best experience I've had. I'd rather have less "action" and more respectful posts than more posters. The busier a board is, the more trolls and troublemakers. |

gjorg: sorry I can't help with the music you've asked about in "6 months leave." If I'm successful in tracking down an answer I'll post it in the Music section, so I hope you'll check back.
JKerouac--do you have the answer? You posted a lot of specific info about music in the various episodes. I just can't remember the background music used in the scene gjorg is asking about. |

In order for "The Lounge" to become ranked on google, yahoo, etc. for specific keywords such as "Mad Men", "Mad Men Blog", "Mad Men (Insert Word(s) Here) I need links to this site with those keywords.
YOU CAN HELP! If you know someone with a quality blog or website which relates to Mad Men or television either add or request for a link to be pointed at: http://www.madmenlounge.com with the keyword which you think people would want to search for. Confused? Just copy and paste the code below when adding or requesting a link. Code:
<a href="http://www.madmenlounge.com">Mad Men</a> Don't worry about more people or trolls. If the site gets bigger I'll will give some of the popular members moderator privileges so they can help control spam and/or unwanted content. Also, if people want it and anyone is interested, I can easily set up a BLOG on this site and allow some of you to become authors of it? |

No - not a spelling mistake. I was born in Milwaukee, WI but lived near Milwaukie, OR for a few years. Just caught my eye.
But you're right when you say almost. The story going around while I was living there was that N. CA and S. OR were going to secede from their home states to form the 51st state. |

Okay, since Don and jkerouac59 went off topic, what the hey, the season's over anyway, I'll throw in my two cents worth.
I was born and raised in southern Oregon (Ashland) and Don is right about northern CA and southern OR and the state of Jefferson. Soregon/norcal have a lot more in common w/one another than the rest of their respective states. I have a vague memory of the Medford tv station signing off with the confederate flag when I was a nipper (back before the earth completely cooled), which I now think was more than a little creepy. |
