Niceguy, I think you're right.
In the first season Roger kept telling Joan that she was his girl (on the side.) She knew it wouldn't last, and told him that someday she'd find her someone and Roger would find another young gal. She was right. But she underestimated Jean. Jean was at Sterling/Cooper solely to snag a husband and when Joan tried to fire her, Jean ran crying to Roger. Roger countermanded Joan, thereby putting all their new postions into sharp focus. Joan was no longer an office heavyweight, nor a priority in Roger's life. |

Thanks Mneely
I took Jane to be a decent girl at first and maybe she was but it seems that when she gets a little power she flaunts ,,,it also why was she so drunk at the party? It struck me not as a once in a while drunk but she has a drinking problem drunk |

Jane was a troublemaker from her introduction. She was about to be fired and as I recall, lied to save her skin and Roger fell for it. Since Joan was the one to nearly can her then, now that the tables are turned, I'm sure Jane is up for a little payback.
She strikes me a being an emotionally immature gold digger who nonetheless played Roger expertly and landed her catch. Unlike Joan, Jane has no idea of the importance and value of keeping a confidence or the importance of forming alliances. She's at an age where she thinks her feminine charms will carry her forever and is ripe for a rude awakening. |

I think Jane (sorry, I was calling her Jean) has come the realization that other than Roger, nobody else likes her or accepts her. Hence the drunken clawing at Don.

The obviousness of Jane being an immature gold-digger makes be believe a Mad Men twist will present itself-- it's too scripted! I will not be satisfied with, "well... I saw that coming" regarding that relationship.

She's losing weight, her rings aren't staying on. My prediction is that she's very seriously ill and going to die before Roger does (what irony.) So much for gold-digging. Roger will go back to Wife #1.

I have a prediction about Joan for season 3.
I'm guessing she'll see some domestic violence from that controling husband of hers. They've already had words about her quitting her job when he becomes more successful. Now I'm thinking, even though it looks like he's going nowhere fast, he'll want her to quit anyway, and I don't think Joan is quite ready to be under his thumb 24/7. I see her showing up to work with a shiner concealed behind sunglasses sometime soon. |

jkerouac59, I agree with you 100% on Jane. And she is very unlikeable... somewhat like how I feel about Pete. But you may be right, Don, that they'll throw a curveball at us when it comes to her... or at least give us something we will sympathize with her about.
Mneeley490, we've already seen domestic violence from that husband. I just wonder how far down this path Joan will go... I really don't see anything that guy has to offer her, so I was mystified about their marriage to begin with. All I could think of was Cooper's line to not waste her youth on age. Then again, I pretty much think all the women on this show should leave their disrespectful and dishonest husbands. |
